A Perfect Smile...

A perfect smile not only gives the person a strong feeling but also helps in developing good communication. The key to a perfect smile depends in great part on proper health. Coffee and tobacco are your biggest enemies to your beautiful smile.
It’s difficult not to notice a person with a great smile. They certainly stand out in a crowd by projecting an immediate image of warmth and friendliness. Others try to achieve the same thing but somehow just can’t. Did you ever wonder why? Actually, the key to a beautiful smile depends in great part on proper dental health. All you have to do is take a little more time to care for your teeth properly.. The result will be a big improvement in the image you project.
Any dentist will tell you that you should spend at least several minutes brushing, but most people usually spend less than a minute to do it. That’s just not enough time to brush thoroughly, inside, outside and between the teeth in order to eliminate the millions of bacteria that live and grow in your mouth. These bacteria subsist on the food particles left on our teeth after each meal. The microscopic little creatures don’t do you any favors either. Instead, they generate acid as a result of their feasting and the acid they produce creates cavities, bad breath and also eats away enamel. You can take a very major step toward eliminating this problem simply by brushing properly and long enough because if you remove the bacteria they won’t be there to generate any destructive acid. This will improve your oral health, prevent future medical problems and fulfill your needs for a better smile.
Your dentist will also point out that flossing will provide more cleanliness benefits by helping to remove more bacteria that hide in those hard-to-reach spaces between your teeth. Once there, they continue to digest food particles and generate that evil acid. If they’re in residence long enough, they can also destroy gum tissue, ligaments and bones, the loss of which loosen your teeth and can lead to major health problems. Using dental floss after each meal will remove them before they can create damage.
What kind of food you eat can also have an effect too by providing bacteria with the menu they prefer. We all know that sugar tops the list, but there are other things that also help bacteria promote decay. In reality, any food containing sugar and other carbohydrates appeals to them. The list includes potato chips, peanut butter, raisins, popcorn and fruits like bananas, apples, pears and others. You’re probably not going to stop eating them altogether, so be sure to brush/floss after eating and be aware that washing food down with a drink will also help to stop it from sticking to your teeth. Chewing sugarless gum also helps by generating saliva which is a natural plaque-fighting material. These steps will go a long way toward improving and maintaining your oral health and giving you the bright smile you need. And never forget that whether you have dental insurance or not, visiting your dentist on a regular basis is a must for continued good health.
You probably didn’t realize that two of the biggest enemies to a beautiful smile are coffee and tobacco. Both of these will stain your teeth and dull the whiteness of your enamel considerably over time. Coffee has still another drawback. When you drink it hot, the teeth naturally expand and contract and may produce tiny cracks dentists call “crazes.”
One final comment. Most people brush their teeth with too much force. Brushing hard really isn’t necessary and can actually damage your enamel and gums. So go easy. It doesn’t take much pressure to remove food and bacteria.
